IPATH Annual Meeting
ICTH is not just a conference,
its people coming together to facilitate change. |
![]() The IPATH Annual Meeting, formally known as the International Conference on Transport & Health (ICTH), is the only free-standing conference event in a global market. It was conceived by Karyn Warsow, a doctoral student at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and founder of the Transportation Public Health Link (TPH Link) due to a personal frustration with traditional government funded conference offerings. She met Jennifer Mindell, PhD, University College London, Editor-in Chief of the Journal of Transport & Health during the Transportation Research Board annual meeting in which both of these ladies had a vision of something unique; a socioscientific event that focuses on connecting delegates for future collaboration. Together, Karyn and Jenny, worked to blend their cultural and professional expertise to organize and host ICTH.
ICTH has been re-branded as the IPATH Annual Meeting but remains a direct participatory experience based on design thinking and experiential learning. Policymakers, practitioners and academics from multiple disciplines and professional sectors involved in transport planning and engineering, public health, urban planning, spatial and architectural design, environmental planning, economics and beyond meet to share their stories of success and failure; build world-wide collaborative friendships; but most importantly, leave inspired! The IPATH Annual Meeting is the only conference in a world-wide market fully dedicated to transport systems and health impacts. Interactive Hot Topic Workshops and abstract presentations (oral, pecha kucha and poster) are led by transdisciplinary teams to demonstrate “how” non-traditional and innovative thinking can lead to creative problem solving. The conference bridges the gap between scientific investigation and real-world application. The IPATH Annual Meeting held in different locations across the globe. The goal is to provide valuable insights into the health impacts of transport, urban planning, governance, strategic and policy decision-making, performance metric tools and the potential return on investment of a dynamic system.
