About IPATH
History
The International Professional Association for Transport & Health (IPATH) was created October 2016, in an effort to bring together a diverse group of professionals working at the intersection of transport and health. Many of the initial members had been delegates of the inaugural International Conference on Transport & Health (ICTH) 2015-London. At the conclusion of ICTH a general meeting was organized by the Transport and Health Science Group (THSG). Founded in the late 1980s by Dr. Stephen Morton, THSG is an independent society of public health and transport practitioners and researchers committed to understanding and addressing the links between transport policies and health and promoting a healthy transport system.

Board of Directors
IPATH began with a small Board of Directors (BOD) focused on setting up the administrative and operational regulatory documents needed to serve as the structural foundation of the organization. This board worked on several communication and marketing efforts, in addition to becoming actively involved with ICTH. Several of the original board members continued for a second two-year term in 2018, to assist with organic growth. As a result, the decision was made to submit the legal paperwork to convert IPATH to a nonprofit entity. This process was completed and approved by the state of Michigan, May 2020. However, due to US federal governmental backlog, IPATH did not become a recognized 501(c)(3) until August 2022.
Catapulting IPATH into 2023
As the IPATH Board heads into 2023, there is renewed energy to fully develop an integrated fiscal and marketing strategic plan that will guide the organization. Our goal is on collaborative partnerships, member services and financial solvency.
